My first wedding (assisting) | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

I'll be honest.  When I first decided to get into the business of photography the thought of shooting a wedding scared me to death.  Weddings are a HUGE deal.  For 50% of us married folk, it only happens once.  And for those other 50%, well there could be 2...or 3....or if you're anything like Elizabeth Taylor you get about a dozen of them.  But all kidding aside, your FIRST wedding only happens once. ;)

Every little girl dreams of their wedding day.  The dress.  The cake.  The groom.  The first dance.  All of that needs to be captured by the photographer at just the right moment, or the moment passes you by.  Luckily for me, I hired one of the best wedding photographers (Amber Procaccini) and all of those moments were captured for me because Amber is amazing, extremely experienced and works magic behind a camera (and who hopefully I'll also have the priviledge of working with someday).

Another very gifted photographer friend of mine is Leah.  Leah is not only an amazing photographer, but an amazing person.  When I first got asked to shoot a wedding for a very special client of mine, who if it were anyone else I might have said no to, I immediately thought to ask Leah for some guidance.  I simply asked to "tag along" or even offer to be a 3rd shooter (sort of like the 3rd string quarterback for the photography team), but she had enough faith and confidence in me to ask me to 2nd shoot for her at an upcoming wedding.  I was thrilled...and a little scared.

So, last Friday I finally got the opportunity to shoot a wedding.  What an experience, and Leah made it all seem so easy!  I have to say, besides being the bride or a guest at a wedding, being a photographer at one is F-U-N, Fun. (and now that I've spelled that word out and said it a couple times in my head, it sounds weird...lol).

Without further ado, here is my rather large share of the day as it unfolded:

3 month old baby girl | Minneapolis Natural Light Infant and Baby Photographer

I love having repeat clients, especially when the first photographs are taken when their babies are only 6 weeks old.  It's amazing to see how much a baby can change in just a few short weeks.  They become more alert.  They start expressing themselves with real emotion.  And best of all, they start to smile.  Not the "I just passed gas" kind of smile, but a true human emotional reponse kind of smile.

Those first smiles are so precious and I am so glad I was able to capture a few during my session with this 3 month old little cutie.  Next up will be her 6 month portraits in November and I cannot wait to see how much she will have grown and changed!
