Perfect Day for Family Pictures

This past September I had the pleasure and honor of photograhing another event for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Cycle for Life Event, at Brackett's Crossing in Lakeville, MN.  You can see the pictures from that event here.  One thing I love about volunteering for the foundation is the fabulous people I meet at these events.  The families, friends, supportors, and those that work for the foundation each and every day.  One such fabulous person was Emily.

Emily was looking to have some updated family pictures taken, so we exchanged contact information and a short time later I received an e-mail asking for my available dates.  She then explained to me about the Alimagnet Dog Park she wanted to have her photos taken in down in Burnsville.  It was the park her husband proposed to her at and also the park that they went to to open up their ultrasound photo to find out they were having a little girl.  This park is very much a special place for them and holds a lot of meaning.  I was delighted and honored to take their family pictures here.

Family Portraits in the Park | Roseville Family Photographer

I met Greg and Michelle and their beautiful daughter, Emma, last Summer when they wanted some 6-month portraits of little Emma and some updated family photos, too.  I'll never forget when Greg came out of the car carrying baby Emma in her car seat carrier saying "Are you ready to meet the cutest baby in the world?  You may hurt your eyes!" I knew I was in for working with a super fun family and they didn't disappoint over the past year and a half.  And when he pulled the blanket back that was covering Emma in her car seat, I couldn't help but agree with the proud daddy, she really was one of the most beautiful baby girls I had ever seen. :)

Over this past year and a half I have taken Emma's 9-month photos and their Christmas Card Photos and Emma's One-Year Photos (one cake-smash session and one lifestyle session) all proven to be quite memorable with lots of laughs as we went.

This past Fall I had the pleasure of taking their Fall Family Pictures at Roseville Central Park.  Emma, now walking and as beautiful as ever.  It has been such a pleasure working with this family!

6-month portraits / Grow With Me! | Plymouth Baby Photographer

This just may be the quickest I have ever gotten a blog post up following a session, but I couldn't resist sharing!

These are this little guy's 6-month portraits as part of his Grow With Me Package done at mommy and daddy's house.  He was one happy little guy during our session seeing he had just woke up from a 2-hour nap right before I arrived.  Perfect timing! :)

Coon Rapids Newborn and Family Lifestyle Photography

I'll admit it.  I'm a horrible blogger.  I try, though.  I usually get around to getting my images "blog ready", maybe even start typing out a post and something (by something I mean by 3-year old) comes up and interrupts my train of thought (and by interrupts I mean literally taking my hand and pulling me off my office chair).

Today "someone" is eating lunch while my husband attends to him so that I can actually get a blog post up, yippee!!!

This is a post I've been wanting to get up for quite some time now.  I think one of my last posts, of his mommy and daddy's Maternity Photo Shoot, was one of my last photo posts...and now "little dude" has finally arrived!  He was only 5-days-old for these newborn pictures we took at home and now he's a little over one month and oh so darn cute.  Not that he wasn't as a newborn...just take a look. :)

Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life Event | Minneapolis Event Photographer

As most people know, my son has Cystic Fibrosis.  After I started up my photography business almost 2 years ago, one of my personal, as well as business goals, was to donate as much of my time and talent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help raise money for the research that goes into finding a cure for this disease.  I donated 2 canvas gallery wraps to last year's annual gala's silent auction, and I'll be doing so again this year with 2 canvases ordered and on their way for delivery.

In May I shot the Great Strides Walk at Lake Calhoun and last month I was honored to have had the opportunity to shoot the first ever Cycle for Life Event in Burnsville, MN, which turned out to be a great success given the cool and cloudy day.

The event started bright and early at 8:00am, which meant I had to get up at 6:00am to get down to the event by 7:00am to shoot the goings-on before the cyclists were scheduled to start.  They had coffee, juice and breakfast for the cyclists.  Good thing for the coffee because as luck would have it, in all my early morning drowsiness I realized about 20 minutes into my drive to the event I left my nice piping hot thermos of coffee sitting safely on my kitchen counter back at home.  It made for a very long drive.

Once I arrived at the event with 2 cups of coffee now warming me up from the inside, I began shooting the pre-event festivities.  Cyclists having the air in their tires checked, registration and of course, getting in that last cup of coffee before heading out.

I really do love shooting these events for a variety of reasons, but first and foremost it's the positive energy and vibe from all the participants and volunteers that gives me the hope and encouragement I need to keep me and my family going in our fight to battle this disease.  I love speaking to other families and friends of loved ones with CF, the workers at the foundation and of course, the Vertex rep who always has encouraging news of new drugs in the pipeline that are on their way to the masses (roughly 35,000 people in the US have CF).

Please enjoy these photos from this wonderful day and if you have a chance visit www.cff.org to educate yourself on this disease and/or donate money to the foundation. :)
