One of my sessions from October was for a very special couple that will always be near and dear to me. I received an e-mail one day from Cassie asking me about taking some maternity pictures for them as they were expecting their first child. She had seen my ad on craigslist (best source of free advertising hands down) and had looked at my work on my website and blog. After reading all of her kind words in regards to some of my work, I knew I really, really wanted to work with them, so of course, I said yes. She was due the beginning of January, so we scheduled a time for mid-October. They wanted some outdoor Fall pictures and waiting until November or early December would have been chancy with our Minnesota weather.
A couple weeks later, I received another e-mail happily announcing their engagement and plans to marry in 2012. Although, I didn't have any wedding photography experience, Cassie sent me the most beautiful e-mail explaining how much it would mean to them if I photographed their wedding and that they had nothing but the utmost faith and confidence in me that I could do it. I had to admit, it was probably more confidence than I even had in myself. But, with little hesitation I said yes knowing I would have more than a year to gain the experience and confidence I needed to be completely ready for them the following summer (I have now assisted in 3 weddings with several more coming up this spring and summer). :)
After waiting nearly 3 months, I finally got to meet Cassie and Wrin. I could not have asked for better clients to have for a beautiful maternity and newborn shoot. I am very much looking forward to documenting this year for them; watching baby Owyn grow, see two beautiful people wed and celebrate this new chapter in their life together. Congratulations to the two of you. :)
