This photo shoot of Mr. P's One-Year Photos turned out completely opposite of how I envisioned it in my mind. Originally we had scheduled this photo shoot in the afternoon and for some reason I pictured a studio-like shoot with a cake smash. Why? I have no idea. I don't remember discussing that with mom, but for some reason I had that idea in my head.
Mom had e-mailed me earlier in the week asking if we could reschedule to earlier in the morning because they had a really busy day planned out. I agreed to a 9:00am shoot, which is the earliest shoot I've done to-date. Typically I won't schedule shoots until at least 10:00am because I have a husband and 2-year-old to take care of on weekend mornings, but luckily that morning my husband was ok being ignored while taking care of our son while I scurried around the house getting ready.
I packed up my gear, my stands, background, flooring, etc...everything I would need for an at home studio-like shoot.
When I arrived at my clients' home, both parents were so incredibly warm and friendly and inviting. I had met mom previously at this little girl's one-year photo shoot, so I already knew she was incredibly sweet. After discussing a few places to take the photos inside their home, we ended up settling on taking the pictures outside. Given our unusually warm Spring in Minnesota, I was totally up for taking advantage of the warm sunny morning to take some photos outside. As we walked down the stairs to go outside, I saw a cake! I asked mom, is that the cake we're using for the cake smash? Nope. Turns out Mr. P is allergic to something in the cake. Ah, bummer. I love a good cake smash.
So, outside we went! We found some nice little shady spots in their small backyard and went to work. Dad had such great ideas with bringing out every possible piece of sports equipment he owned and mom brought out the most adorable hat and big number 1 balloon (which they still had from his birthday party one week prior). Definitely made for a fun shoot!
We ended up with some gorgeous shots of this beautiful little man. It didn't go exactly how I originally pictured it in my head, but it turned out so unexpectedly perfect! I adore these pictures.
